Senior Structural Engineer

We are interested in Senior Structural Engineers with appropriate qualifications that are on a fast track career, desire to work in a great innovative firm and are interested in a challenging and rewarding environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Structural design of buildings according to local, provincial, and national standards and codes
  • Perform structural assessments and feasibility studies on building integrity, remedial approaches, and retrofits for structural solutions; prepare reports and designs based on findings/investigations
  • Work closely with the management team, provide a high level of customer service to our clients while consistently providing high-quality structural plans, details, and analysis.
  • Assist with the preparation of proposals, including scopes of work and fee estimates, for structural engineering work
  • Manage projects to meet budget and time constraints
  • Conduct site reviews for projects under construction and reports with appropriate documentation for the work
  • Conduct meetings with building officials, clients, and contractors during all phases of a project
  • Mentor junior staff including new engineers and engineer’s-in-training
  • Establish and implement changes to increase efficiency, productivity, and overall profitability in the workplace

Requirements:

  • +10 years of experience with the design of buildings, preferably within the consulting field
  • University level engineering education at an institution accredited by the CEAB (Bachelors level or higher)
  • P.Eng designation in a Canadian province, Ontario is preferred
  • Excellent time management and organizational ability
  • Self-starter that has experience interacting positively with clients
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated skill with the structural analysis of buildings and foundations
  • Demonstrated skill with the design of concrete, steel, and timber elements
  • Knowledge of structural analysis computer programs (Woodworks and STAAD Pro)
  • Knowledge and demonstrated use of the concrete, steel, and timber handbooks
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, by-laws and codes affecting residential development and commercial construction, including the Ontario Building Code and/or National Building Code
  • Field experience including the review of works during construction and for final sign-off
  • Knowledge and understanding of Revit and AutoCAD an asset
  • Knowledge of permitting process for construction and demolition is an asset
  • Structural aluminum and cold formed steel design experience is an asset
  • Bridge design experience is an asset
