Senior Construction Project Manager

Our Orillia office is seeking a Senior Construction Project Manager with appropriate qualifications to carry out the following responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of various projects, including the start-up, obtaining building permits, preparing tenders, budgets, estimates and construction schedules
  • Work with in-house and external construction personnel to ensure all project construction is executed in a timely and efficient manner, while maintaining integrity of design
  • Create proposals based on clients’ specific expectations of project
  • Review and comment on shop drawings along with the design manager
  • Prepare RFI's and invoices
  • Ensure that work safe practices are being followed during site visits
  • Manage completion requests, tenant occupancy dates and project closeouts
  • Prepare and manage contract with trades
  • Liaise with site superintendents and sub-trades
  • Establish a Project Charter for each approved project, defining the projects goals, objectives, risks, assumptions, timelines, staffing levels, roles and responsibilities, work breakdown structure, milestones, and deliverables using the appropriate software tools and/or PM methods
  • Conduct cost-benefit analyses, risk analyses, and ROI calculations to determine project feasibility
  • Establish and deliver mechanisms for tracking project progress and reporting to stakeholders via a formal communications plan
  • Conduct stakeholder meetings and forums in order to solicit feedback, input, and expectations
  • Identify and resolve conflicts within project teams and associate work; create contingency plans to mitigate risk
  • Conduct project post mortems in order to identify areas for improvement and make recommendations based on findings
  • Ensure all company, client, and project policies, procedures, standards, are adhered to Key Requirements

Key Requirements

  • A Construction, Building Technology diploma or an Engineering degree
  • Completion of C.E.T., Gold Seal Constructor, or PMP is preferred
  • 10 or more years of direct work experience in construction project management
  • Residential and Commercial Experience
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, field drawings and plans
  • A solid understanding of all construction trades and construction techniques
  • Strong management, delegation, planning and leadership skills
  • A strong understanding of the fundamentals of contracts and experience in managing contractors under the terms of a contract
  • Knowledge of OH&S regulations and related building codes
  • Previous success in project delivery and execution of project management methods
  • Highly effective negotiation, diplomatic, and conflict resolutions skills
  • Superb creation and facilitation of meetings, feedback sessions, and briefings in order to create consensus among stakeholders
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise necessary cost control measures
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and email
  • A valid driver’s license
