Senior Mechanical Engineer

Full-Time | North Bay

With offices located in Orillia, Port Carling and North Bay, SBSG has a motivated team that delivers innovative, practical concepts that fulfill project needs and fit within the reality of our client’s budgets.

Our North Bay office is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with appropriate qualifications to carry out the following responsibilities:

  • Plan, implement and lead mechanical design projects, determining resource requirements, staff allocation, project timelines and budgetary constraints
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards and regulations, as well as the adequacy of design for permits and compliance with approved plans
  • Review construction and mechanical drawings, making alterations and recommendations as required
  • Formulate and develop advanced mechanical engineering techniques, while maintaining familiarity with current methods
  • Frequently interact with the Project Manager, key stakeholders and onsite contracting forces


  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer in the province of Ontario, P.Eng. status in other provinces and jurisdictions is an asset
  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of mechanical engineering and design experience, consulting engineering experience is preferred
  • Mechanical design experience in plumbing, HVAC systems, sprinkler and other life safety systems, heat pumps, boilers and DHW systems, natural gas piping distribution and mechanical building control systems
  • Experience in small, medium and large residential, commercial and institutional projects
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, Revit experience is an asset
  • Advanced understanding of quality standards relative to mechanical design and planning, engineering fundamentals and principles
  • Knowledge of Canadian and Ontario Plumbing Codes, National and Ontario Building Codes and other applicable regulations for relevant jurisdiction
