Jack Steenhof, M.A.Sc. P. Eng. – Principle, Sr. Structural Engineer

Jack Steenhof is the principle owner of Steenhof Building Services Group. Jack has been a professional engineer for over 25 years, and has been practicing in the Orillia location for the past 10 years. Jack has earned his Masters of Applied Science in Structural Engineering from the University of Toronto. He is a registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and the Yukon Territory. Jack enjoys serving the residential, commercial, retail and institutional sectors, building strong relationships with contractors and clients. Jack’s leadership stems from building on past experiences and continuously embracing change to keep up with the current market. His expertise and core values of integrity allow him to constantly think outside the box, and execute new ideas and innovative ways to help Steenhof Building Services Group to succeed.

Liz Scott, Intern A.R.I.D.O – Executive Assistant to Jack Steenhof

Liz Scott is the executive assistant to Jack Steenhof. In 2007 she graduated with honors from the Interior Design program at Sheridan College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning, located in Oakville, Ontario. Liz has been a member of Steenhof Building Services Group since April of 2007.She assists Mr. Steenhof with managing the Solar Energy Department, and provides General Project Co-ordination, AutoCAD and Revit Drawings, Finish Selection, and Administration Services. Liz enjoys collaborating with clients to develop innovative solutions to meet design and construction challenges. She believes that high quality customer service is the essential ingredient of every successful project.

Mark Scott - Controller

In the Winter of 2006, Mark Scott joined Steenhof Building Services Group. With a strong background in Accounting and Management, Mark is responsible to oversee daily operations of the finance department. Mark directs and co-ordinates the company financial planning and budget management functions. As the coordinator of the Human Resources Department, he establishes and maintains the organization structure of SBSG staff members to effectively accomplish the company’s goals and objectives.

Jesse Longworth, M.A.Sc., P.Eng.

In the Spring of 2010, Jesse Longworth joined the team at Steenhof Building Services Group. He is a graduate of the Bachelor of Science and Engineering Program at Queens University, and has received his Masters of Applied Science in Structural Engineering from the Royal Military College of Canada in Kingston. Jesse has over 8 years of experience in the field of Structural Engineering and is a valuable addition to the team. Jesse performs/reviews assessments and structural feasibilities studies on various buildings with consideration of integrating solar solutions. He conducts construction inspections and site reviews, ensuring work is performed in accordance with original engineering specifications. Jesse is responsible to oversee the progress of specific construction projects, cost control, drawing review, co-ordination, facilitation and documentation of project development from contract award through to construction completion.

Chris Langford, P.Eng.

Chris is a graduate of the Bachelor of Engineering Program at Ryerson University. Chris became a member of Steenhof Building Services Group in the Spring of 2010. He is a certified Electrical Engineer and assists with managing the Solar Department. Chris directs the design and management of projects with direct client interface and consulting. He is responsible to monitor project schedules and participates in the design, analysis and preparation of drawings and specifications for various projects. With over 6 years of experience in the field, Chris has a wide range of knowledge in a variety of Electrical Applications. He has strong communication skills, and is a key player in the growth of Steenhof Building Services Group.

Jerry Slavish, AATO – Sr. Architectural Technologist – Manager of Architecture/Engineering Dpt.

As a Project Coordinator for the Architectural and Engineering Department, Jerry looks for structural solutions that create architectural opportunities. Jerry is a graduate of the Architectural Technology program graduated from Humber College, and has over 25 years of experience in the design industry. Jerry has worked with Jack Steenhof for over 20 years, and has provided structural design services for projects nationwide. Jerry has specialized in working on the designs of some of the firms largest projects including the Bobby Orr Community Centre, and Orchard Point Condominiums.

Yong-mook Kim, M.A.Sc., P.E. – Structural Engineering Department

Kim joined the Steenhof Building Services Group team in September of 2011. Kim has a Master’s of Science in Structural Engineering, and is a certified Professional Engineer in the state of Texas. Kim has over 10 years of experience modeling, analyzing, and designing concrete and steel structures. He has strong computer programming skills and is able to automate difficult or cumbersome design and analysis tasks. Kim assists with managing the Structural Engineering department at SBSG. He performs site reviews, completes design and analysis and preparation of drawings and specifications, monitors project schedules, and mentors the junior engineering staff. Kim ensures that every project is completed accurately and efficiently, ensuring the expectations of the client are exceeded every time.

Jason DeVroom, MAATO – Intern Architectural Technologist

Jason DeVroom, a graduate of the Architectural Technology Program at Mohawk College, has been a member of Steenhof Building Services Group since December of 2005. Jason is the lead manager for the Field Services Department, responsible for performing structural inspections of residential, commercial, and institutional facilities. Jason enjoys working closely with the contractor to develop innovative and cost effective solutions for all of his projects.

Meagan Hawkins, A.R.I.D.O – Manager of the Interior Design / Modular Department

Meagan is a graduate of the Interior Design Program at Georgian College. She successfully completed her NCIDQ examinations and is a fully accredited Professional Interior Designer. She maintains strong relationships with all of our clients while she advises them on all design factors including space planning, layout and utilization of furnishings and equipments, and colour and material coordination. Meagan produces results that blend innovation and sustainability with practical, cost-effective solutions.

Yu Ching Lai, M.A.Sc., E.I.T.

In the Spring of 2009, Yu Ching Lai graduated with his Masters of Applied Science in Structural Engineering from Queen’s University. Yu Ching has been a member of Steenhof Building Services Group since August of 2009. As a member of the Solar Department, he performs structural reviews of existing roof top structures. Yu Ching is also responsible for the designing, planning, and the supervision of construction projects, including residential, commercial, and institutional facilities. He prepares and reviews blueprints & schematic drawings and performs structural analysis utilizing STAAD Pro computer programs.

Mayuko Ng, E.I.T.

In 2009, Mayuko Ng graduated with a degree in Structural Engineering from the Ryerson University. Shortly after, she joined Steenhof Building Services Group as a member of the Solar Department. Mayuko performs structural assessments on a variety of facilities including residential, commercial, and institutional applications. She prepares and reviews blueprints & schematic drawings and performs structural analysis utilizing STAAD Pro and Wood Works computer technologies.

Mark Steenhof – E.I.T.

Mark Steenhof completed his Bachelors in Civil Engineering at Ryerson University, and is currently completing his Masters in Structural Engineering at the University of Waterloo. Mark has worked part-time for Steenhof Building Services Group for the past 4 years. He specializes in Structural Analysis and Design utilizing Computer Aided Design software. Mark is involved in the design and drafting of projects including steel frame structures, reinforced concrete structures, timber frame structures, bridge structures, pile and grade beam foundations, and shop drawing reviews.

Alexander Ayson – Civil Engineering Technologist

Alex is a graduate of the three-year Civil Engineering Technologist Program at Algonquin College, in Ottawa, ON. He became a member of the Steenhof team in early 2011. Alex works in the Structural and Solar Departments, under the guidance of Jesse Longworth, P.Eng. He is responsible to complete the Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Structural Permit drawings for our clients wishing to place solar on the property or building roofs.  He has a strong knowledge of AutoCAD which allows him to complete all jobs quickly and efficiently, allowing SBSG to meet the quick timelines required by our clients.

Kevin Sheppard – Senior Draftsperson

Kevin joined Steenhof Building Services Group in early 2011. He is a graduate of the Architectural Technologist program at Humber College, and has over 20 years of experience in the field. Kevin is a key member of the Steenhof team. With his vast range of experience and technical skills, Kevin is able to assist all departments of the company. Kevin has a great ability to work effectively with all members of a project team, and has a unique combination of both software and industry expertise. With Kevin’s abilities, SBSG is able to produce intricate 3-D models of all designs, including roof top solar installations, custom homes, and more.

Richard Chaudoir – Electrical Engineer Technologist

Richard is a graduate of the Electrical Engineering Automated System Program at Georgian College in Barrie, ON. Shortly after graduation, Richard joined the Steenhof team in early 2011. Under the guidance of Chris Langford, P.Eng, Richard is gaining vast experience in the Electrical Engineering field, specifically in Solar Design. As a member of this department, Richard assists in completing Electrical Permit Drawings, Single Line Drawings, Connection Impact Assessments and related OPA and local utility documentation.

Kelly Shelswell – Intermediate Modular / Design CAD Technician

Kelly has over 6 years of experience in the field of Residential and Commercial Design. She recently joined the Steenhof team in September of 2010. Kelly has her BCIN certification for House 2003, HVAC House 2003, Large Buildings 2003 and On-Site Sewage 2003. She also has her HRAI certification and is able to complete Residential Heat Loss and Heat Gain Calculations. With her expertise, SBSG has expanded into the field of Mechanical Design and Review.

Emily Silk - Modular / Design CAD Technician

In 2009 Emily Silk graduated from the Architectural Technology program, specializing in Construction, at Mohawk College in Hamilton, Ontario. Emily has been an employee of Steenhof Building Services Group since April of 2009. Emily is a member of the Interior Design and Modular Department. She prepares AutoCAD and Revit working drawings, client liaison, and general office administration, including production. Emily has also been actively involved with attaining Energy Grant approvals for SBSG clients.

Nicole Sedore – Modular / Design CAD Technician

Nicole Sedore graduated with honors from the Interior Design Program at Humber College. She gained over 10 years of experience designing custom homes prior to joining Steenhof Building Services Group in July of 2007. Nicole is a CAD Technician and a member of the Interior Design and Modular Department. She has the ability to interpret the vision of the client and translate it to an electronic drawing, using AutoCAD and Revit Software. Nicole is responsible for producing electronic drawings and details, formulation of tender documents, contract administration, finish selection, and client liaison.

Paul Korczynski – Modular / Design CAD Technician

Paul joined Steenhof Building Services Group in October of 2009, and is a member of the Architectural and Engineering Department. He has over 20 years of experience in the construction and design industry. Paul is responsible for the development of details, technical drawings, and shop drawings, specializing in the design of custom homes. He follows through with the life span of each project to ensure the highest standard of quality is met, and maintains a good working relationship with each client.

James Worrall – Intern Architectural Technologist

James joined SBSG in April of 2010, and is a member of the Architectural and Engineering Department.  James is a graduate of the Architectural Technology Co-op Program from Fanshawe College in London.  Since graduation in December 2005, James has had varying levels of involvement in both the design and construction of numerous Residential, Industrial, Commercial projects. James is responsible for the development of working drawings, shop drawings and details, as well as completing on-site reviews. He is also a member of the Canadian Green Building Council and is currently pursuing his LEED GA & AP certification.

Michael Davis II – CAD Technician

Michael is a graduate of Residential Design and Drafting from the Loyalist College in Belleville, ON. Michael joined the Steenhof team in November of 2010, and works under the guidance of Jesse Longworth in the Solar Design Department. He is a highly efficient and excellent at multi-tasking numerous projects at one time. Michael is responsible to complete the Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Structural Permit drawings for our clients wishing to place solar on the property or building roofs.  He has an excellent knowledge of AutoCAD, and is a professional employee dedicated to meeting the needs of our clients.

Jake Landry - Field Services and Engineering Department

In August of 2011, Jake graduated from the Civil Engineering Technology program at Fanshawe College in London, ON. Jake has been applying his work experience and education to projects on multiple levels. As a member of the Field Services Department, Jake is part of a field crew that is responsible for conducting rooftop surveys using “total station” equipment and completing structural feasibility reviews. In the office, Jake assists with the preparation of Structural Feasibility Report, Solar PV Feasibility Layouts and Structural Permit Drawings using AutoCAD. Jake ensures the highest level of client satisfaction is met by answering any questions on site and maintaining communication with all clientele throughout the entire review process.

Dave Wallace - Field Services Department

Dave has been a member of the Steenhof team since February 2011. As a member of the Field Services Department, Dave is part of a field crew that is responsible for conducting rooftop surveys using “total station” equipment and completing structural feasibility reviews. In the office, Dave assists with the preparation of Structural Feasibility Report and Solar PV Feasibility Layouts using AutoCAD.

Sue Higgs – Receptionist

Sue Higgs joined Steenhof Building Services Group in October of 2009. Sue provides secretarial, clerical, and administrative support, in order to ensure that all clients of SBSG receive a high value of customer service. Sue maintains the general filing system, assists with the planning of meetings, conferences, and conference telephone calls, and provides administrative support to the four departments.
